Future of the Power Industry, with KEPIC!
Korea Electric Power Industry Code (KEPIC) is a collective standard that the power industry has autonomously developed under the government's policy support, aimed for the localization of technical standards that are applied to power plants. In this code, various requirements concerning design, production, construction, testing, inspection, operation, maintenance ,etc. have been enacted according to the domestic situation to secure the safety and reliability of power plants and to improve the economy.
For KEPIC, an additional version and an additional version after every five-year cycle since the first edition was issued in 1995. The 2010 edition consists of about a total of 359 kinds, 166 volumes, 0,7 million pages in the seven fields such as quality, machinery, electricity, structure, nuclear power,, fire prevention, environment, etc.
Currently, KEPIC is developed mainly by the policy committee, the professional committees, the sub-committee, etc. that consists of 3 steps, where 300 industry-academia-research specialists are involved, based on the government's active support.
In addition, KEPIC has contributed to improving the quality and safety of power plants, especially nuclear power plants., by inducing the industry to comply with the KEPIC through a KEPIC certification system.
